Nordiska of Gothenburg, 1964

Designer: Ingegerd Hyltén-Cavallius

Name: Kudde 8527
Original colour: Soft brown with orange, yellow, green, brown and pink linen threads.

Sunflowers 8527 was designed by

Ingegerd Hyltén-Cavallius in 1964.

Ingegerd started young at Nordiska of Gothenburg, and worked her whole life as a professional visual artist, furthering her education in textiles, graphics, watercolour and enamel.

Sunflowers 8527 is the first design by Ingegerd that we republish from the Nordiska archive.

With the reprinting on contemporary linen, we have chosen a fabric larger than the original. In the 60's, Sunflowers was a kit for a very small cushion, only 26 x 48 cm. In the contemporary kit, we have kept the print the same size as the original, on you will receive two sheets of beautiful linen fabric,
circa 50 x 60 cm long.
One of the panels will be printed with the sunflowers, and one will be for the backing.

A set of linen threads in 7 colours, a handy stitch card and three chenille needles are included in this kit. The colours you will need more of are double skeins, 28 meter, these are marked (2) on the instructional sheet.

We have found a very rare, complete sheet of the original stitch chart, and a full size copy of this chart will be included with your kit. The colour numbers on the chart are from the 1960's, so just add your yellows, orange and greens where you like them best. You can easily follow the dark and light colours on the drawing, only a little improvisation is needed.
