Designed by Nordiska  (N.I.A.B) of Gothenburg, Sweden.
1960’s design on contemporary linen.

Circle 6503 is from our first selection of prints, one of the few Nordiska pieces we have an original for (see last image here).

With this kit, you will receive a piece of linen that was printed in Sweden, not far from the old linen factory where the Nordiska archive patterns were found. Included is also linen threads and two cards: one of the cards with a photograph showing part of the 1960 artwork  and part of the original Circle 6503, light blue Como linen, embroidered with white DMC threads.
The back of the card has an English translation of stitches used, and a brief history of the design origins. The other card shows and names the 24 common stitches used by Nordiska.
We don't have the exact instructions for this kit, but you can see on the card what stitches to use, and this pattern is perfect for improvising and learning. It is a good kit for beginners, with only six simple stitches to use.

The threads that are wrapped with a label Linblomman or Nordiska are all Swedish 1960’s, Klippan is from the 1990's, and if there is an unlabelled hank of threads, then it is contemporary linen dyed in Sweden. In the photos here, you can see which threads that are included.

The last picture shows the positioning of the print on the approximately 50 cm x 50 cm fabric, here a "Woodland" colour embroidered with a lot of improvisation, very different stitch pattern from the original.

All pieces are hand cut and may vary slightly in size. The print itself measures 30 cm in diameter, exactly as the original 1960's size.
The design was printed on a smaller size fabric in the past,
the larger linen piece here allows for more ideas, for example a cushion.
As backing (if you like to make a cushion) it's nice to use for example Donegal tweed, or any vintage fabric.

If you like to wash the linen, remember that it shrinks 4-5%, and it's best to soak before laundry to save the flax fibres from unnecessary wear. The screen print itself is wash proof.
