By Ingrid Bjernefors Dahlman
for Nordiska, 1960’s
Fabric: approximately 37 cm x 35 cm, print 12 cm tall x 8 cm wide.
The print is positioned slightly to the right to leave fabric for a backing if you choose to make a small purse/pocket.
Ingrid’s Dance of the Flowers (Blommornas Dans) was originally printed on green linen fabric and it was intended that it would be made into a wall hanging or cushion. Here we have chosen a part of Blommornas Dans/Dance of the Flowers for everyone who would like to try something small before embarking on a larger project. This print is now supplied without threads, providing you with the opportunity to select your own palette to stitch with. The linen fabric has been screen printed in Sweden not far from the archive.
The card shows part of the original kit instructions, and part of the original pattern drawings made prior to production of the kits.
The stitches used are:
stjälksöm - stem stitch
schattersöm - flat stitch or long-and-short stitch
lättsöm - laisy daisy stitch
kopplad sticksöm - split stitch
knutar - French knots
For the French knots, wind the thread around the needle twice.
