Flax Flower Box - A selection box of 14 skeins of linen in soft colours along with a 1960s design, Acorn, from the Nordiska Embroidery Archive.
One of the skeins are an original 1960's Nordiska of Gothenburg stranded linen, hemstitch yarn. The hemstitch pastel colour vary in each box as we pick from a stock that keeps getting smaller and smaller.
In this set you will find:
- 1 Nordiska of Gothenburg 1960's design called Acorn hand printed in Sweden on a circa 50 x 50 cm panel in beautifully textured 100% linen
- 1 handy card with the 24 most common stitches used in linen embroidery in the 60s
- 1 card with a picture of the original drawing of Acorn from the late 1960's, and a brief history of it’s origins.
- Three chenille needles: 20-22-24.
The original Acorn design was printed for a smaller cushion. We don't have the exact instructions for this pattern, but you will find the stitches named, and then make up your own ideas as you go along. The drawings on the card can easily be used as a reference where to add light and darker shades. We can also send additional photos other Acorns stitched up.
The linen skeins are all 14 m each apart from the original vintage hemstitch linen which is 10 meter. This one skein can be stranded into 4, and will then be 40 meter long.
The box itself is made of sturdy paper and can be decorated or printed on to make your own little treasured thread box.
