By Ingrid Bjernefors Dahlman
for Nordiska, 1960’s
Fabric: approximately 37 cm x 37 cm, print 12 cm tall x 8 cm wide.
The print is positioned slightly to the right to leave fabric for a backing if you choose to make a small purse/pocket.
Two linen skeins are included: a hank of contemporary iinen in blues and greens, and a 1960's hemstitch linen skein. This is 4-stranded and you can choose to strand it to embroider very fine details, or use it as it is.
The Swedish embroidery company Nordiska/Niab was founded in 1879 and continued to design patterns for over 100 years. Their archive was recently unearthed to reveal thousands of embroidery patterns for all seasons.
Ingrid’s Dance of the Flowers (Blommornas Dans) was originally printed on green linen fabric and it was intended that it would be made into a wall hanging or cushion. Here we have chosen a part of Blommornas Dans/Dance of the Flowers for everyone who would like to try something small before embarking on a larger project.
The linen fabric has been screen printed in Sweden not far from the archive and the linen thread is dyed in Sweden too.
The card shows part of the original kit instructions, and part of the original pattern drawings made prior to production of the kits.
